Alation Marketplace
Find data you can trust. Act on it with confidence.
The Marketplace is a curated shelf where nothing gets listed until it clears an approval. Data products, agents, and feeds are all owned and access-controlled. Search in plain language, inspect the evidence behind any listing, and request access through the workflow you already run. People find them and agents call them, across every platform where your data lives.
WHAT'S DIFFICULT RIGHT NOW
Three teams, three revenue numbers, one agent picking blind.
Leaders in data face a constant battle: every number is defensible, but none of them match. While people will argue to determine which one is right, an agent just picks one and reports it as fact.
One shelf with every source
Before a team builds a new data product, agent, or feed, Alation checks it against what's already listed and flags the overlap. Candidates come from real query history, not guesswork. One shelf covers data products from Databricks, Tableau, Salesforce, and the rest, so plain-language search and attribute filters run across all of it. Platform marketplaces only list what runs on their own platform.

Listed on merit
Standards checks run at submission, including documentation, quality, ownership, and compliance. Approvals route to the teams accountable for that domain, so someone's name is on a listing before a consumer sees it. Published versions stay frozen. Changes go to a draft and back through approval, so what someone used last quarter is what they find today. Start with vetted, trusted data, not a verification exercise.

Use it in place
Access requests route through ServiceNow or whatever approval workflow you already run. Chat with an asset in natural language from its listing. Usage, ratings, and performance flow back to producers, so the next data product addresses demand people actually expressed.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Common questions about the Alation Marketplace
Q1 —
What is a data product marketplace?
A data product marketplace is a governed catalog of packaged, reusable data assets that consumers can find, use, and build upon. In the Alation Marketplace, data products, agents, and feeds are listed only after they clear standards checks for documentation, quality, ownership, and compliance. Each listing carries an owner and access controls, so a consumer knows who is accountable and precisely what they are getting before they request access.
Q2 —
How is the Alation Marketplace different from a marketplace built into a data platform?
A platform marketplace lists what runs on that platform. The Alation Marketplace lists assets across Snowflake, Databricks, Salesforce, and other data sources in your estate, so one search covers the whole environment instead of one corner. It also governs agents on the same shelf as data, under the same approval flow and access controls, and routes access requests through the workflow your organization already runs.
Q3 —
Can a published data product change as people use it?
No. Published versions of data products stay frozen. A producer who needs to revise a listing works in a draft, and that draft goes back through approvals before it replaces the published version. Consumers keep working against what they already validated, and what someone used last quarter is what they find today. Every listing also shows quality scores, certification badges, lineage back to source, the last-updated date, and the owner's name, so the state of an asset is inspectable rather than asserted.
Q4 —
Can AI agents be published and governed alongside data products?
Yes. Agents built in Agent Studio publish to the Marketplace under the same approval flow, ownership rules, and access controls as data products. People can chat with an agent directly from its listing, and single sign-on carries the same access rules into that conversation. Agents can also call listed data products directly, so an agent is drawing on assets that cleared the same bar a person would have to clear.
