Enhanced Connector Enhanced connectors add extended capabilities and require a separate entitlement in addition to your Alation platform license.

Install the Purview File connector and configure a new Purview File source to start using the connector.

Provide Access

You manage the catalog visibility of the Purview File source on the Access tab of the settings. Refer to Configure Access to OCF Data Sources for information on how to configure the Access tab.

Connect to Data Source

To establish a connection to the data source, you must configure the following settings under Connector Settings on the General Settings tab:

Configure License Settings

Specify the following license details in Connector Settings > License Settings, and click Save.

  • Company Name — The name of the company that owns the connector license.

  • License Key — The license key provided by Alation.

Configure Authentication

The connector supports Azure AD authentication. Ensure you have completed the prerequisites described in Prerequisites.

Specify the following authentication details in Connector Settings > Datasource Connection, and click Save.

Tenant ID

Provide the Azure AD directory identifier.

Client ID

Provide the application (client) ID of the Azure AD app registration.

Client Secret

Provide the secret value generated during the app registration.

Account Name

Provide the Purview account name.

Configure Logging

To set the logging level for Purview File enhanced connector logs:

  1. On the Settings page of your Purview File source, go to General Settings > Logging Configuration.

  2. Select a logging level and click Save.

The available log levels are based on the Log4j framework.

To view connector logs, go to Admin Settings > Server Admin > Manage Connectors and select Purview File OCF Connector.

Obfuscate Literals

Not applicable.

Note

Query Log Ingestion (QLI) is not applicable for this connector.

Test the Connection

After specifying the authentication details, test connectivity:

  1. On the Settings page of your Purview File source, go to General Settings > Test Connection.

  2. Click Test.

A dialog box confirms the status of the connection test.
