Every Alation user has a public profile and a private settings configuration that allows users to manage their individual workspace preferences and security credentials.

The user profile is visible to all user roles. Profiles include:

• User details: An avatar, job title, and professional description.

• Knowledge assets: A collection of the user’s published queries.

• Automated expertise: Alation automatically enriches profiles by identifying and displaying each user’s areas of expertise based on their catalog activity.

All users can manage their account and interface behavior through their settings. Key capabilities include:

• Update Alation account passwords (basic authentication).

• Manage cached database connections.

• Generate and manage refresh tokens for Alation API access.

• Customize Compose default preferences and behavior.

• Configure CSV download formatting options.

• Manage certain email notification triggers and frequency.
