Edit Data Products

Alation Cloud Service Applies to Alation Cloud Service instances of Alation

You can edit a data product to refine its definition, update its metadata, adjust datasets and joins, or modify advanced configuration settings.

Editing allows you to keep a data product aligned with evolving business requirements, data models, and Marketplace standards without recreating it.

Prerequisites

Open a Data Product for Editing

  1. Access the Data Products App.

  2. Expand the left-side navigation, and select My Data Products. The Manage My Data Products page opens.

  3. In the Data Products table, locate the data product you want to edit.

  4. In the rightmost column, click Edit for this data product. The advanced editor opens with the current configuration pre-populated.

For validation behavior and standards, see: Validate Against Marketplace Standards.

Save Changes

After completing your edits, select Save on the top right of the editor.

Considerations for Listed Data Products

If the data product is already listed on the Marketplace:

  • Review the impact of structural changes (datasets, joins, metrics).

  • Confirm that updates do not break dependent use cases.

Editing enables continuous refinement while preserving the data product’s Marketplace presence.
