MaxCompute Enhanced Connector: Version 1.0.7¶
The MaxCompute Enhanced Connector is now available for download. Use this connector to catalog Alibaba Cloud MaxCompute data warehouses in Alation.
The connector is compatible with Alation version 2024.3 and higher.
Features¶
Authentication: Supports Alibaba Cloud Access Key authentication.
Metadata Extraction: Extracts projects, tables, views, columns, and user-defined functions from MaxCompute using MaxCompute OpenAPI.
Lineage Extraction: Extracts table-level and column-level lineage from DataWorks Public API. Includes script details such as Task, Status, Trigger, Owner, Schedule, and SQL content.
Query Log Ingestion (QLI): Extracts query history from MaxCompute to power Popularity, Top Users, Filter Information, and Join Information features. Requires the
infoschema_adminrole at the MaxCompute tenant level.Data Profiling: Supports table and column profiling via JDBC connections. Includes Value Distribution for all column types, and Min, Max, Mean metrics for numerical columns. Requires the
enable_profiling_v2feature flag (enabled by default for ACS).Compose Integration: Supports query execution through Alation Compose.
Performance Settings: Configurable parallel processing and API rate limiting for optimized extraction.
Table Filtering: Filter tables by name or regex pattern for selective extraction.
Logging Configuration: Configurable log levels for troubleshooting.

Performance Settings¶
The connector now supports the following configurable performance settings for metadata extraction under the General Settings tab: (AL-229433)
Tables Batch Size: Specifies the number of tables to fetch per API call for optimized extraction performance.
Parallel Thread Count: Specifies the number of parallel threads for metadata extraction.
Logging Configuration¶
The connector now supports configurable logging levels for improved troubleshooting and debugging. Available log levels include INFO, DEBUG, WARN, TRACE, ERROR, FATAL, and ALL.
Test Access and Fetch Schemas¶
The connector now provides a streamlined workflow to test the connection to Atlas and fetch available schemas before running metadata extraction.
Selective Extraction¶
The connector now supports selective schema extraction, allowing users to:
Select specific schemas for extraction
Search and filter schemas by name
Keep the catalog synchronized with the current selection

The connector is available only for Alation Cloud Service deployments and New User Experience.

Matillion Enhanced Connector (Beta): Version 1.0.0¶
The Matillion Enhanced connector is now available for download. It is supported with Matillion Data Productivity Cloud (DPC). (AL-200846)
The connector is compatible with Alation version 2025.3.2 and higher.
Features¶
Lineage-Only connector: The Matillion OCF connector exclusively extracts lineage information. Supports lineage between data sources powered by the Matillion Tool.
The connector does NOT perform metadata extraction (MDE), query log ingestion (QLI), or data sampling/profiling. For table and column metadata, you must configure and catalog the actual source and destination databases separately in Alation.

Supports CSV Identity Mapping for bridging Alation network IDs with Sigma email addresses.

Lineage Extraction: Automatic lineage extraction showing connections between Sigma elements and upstream data sources.
Permission Mirroring: Mirror Sigma permissions to Alation for access control. Requires Admin-level API credentials.
